Helmet legislation
There are questions about wearing a helmet when cycling. In Europe, only Finland has made it compulsory for adults to wear helmets, and only 13 countries have made it compulsory for children to wear helmets. Malta up to the age of 10; France, Latvia and Austria (12 years); Slovenia, Slovakia and Sweden (15 years); Spain, Croatia and Estonia (16 years) and the Czech Republic and Lithuania (18 years). Still at European level, the countries that make up Europe are determined to achieve climate neutrality by 2050, thereby respecting the commitments made as part of the Paris Agreement. That's why the use of soft mobility makes so much sense.
Not just helmets
For any cyclist, a helmet is an essential item, and when the nights get longer and you have to travel in the dark or in the rain, it's important to be visible. The helmet is equipped with a rear light that allows you to be noticed from all angles. This light is much more visible to drivers and cannot be obstructed by a bag or clothing. The rear light incorporates an accelerometer. When it detects a substantial decrease in your speed, it automatically turns on the brake light on the back of the helmet. When it comes to cars, lights can be important for safety during the day. The helmet's taillight is powerful enough to be visible to drivers in broad daylight.
In order to obtain suitable vision in all weather conditions but also to maintain a modern urban style, the women and the men can have interchangeable visors in different colors: Crystal (Cat.0) - Black (Cat.2) - REVO Blue (Cat.2) - Light yellow (Cat.1). These visors feature an anti-scratch coating that repels water, dirt and insects. Find our visors here.Safety standards
Made from a hard ABS shell with a protective EPS coating. A combination of protection and lightness to keep up with your efforts without compromising your safety, your look or your performance. It complies with the main international safety certifications: CPSC & EN1078 as well as the new NTA-8776 electric bike regulations which offer better protection to speedbike users. What is the NTA-8776 (speed pedelec) certification? With e-bikes, safety is taken to the next level because an e-bike can more easily handle higher speeds than a traditional bike without assistance, with some even being able to reach speeds of 45 km/h (27.9 mph) with a electrical assistance. With e-bikes reaching higher speeds, it is important to have a helmet designed to protect the rider from potentially greater impact forces and with wider head coverage, and this is where the NTA- 8776 comes into play. An NTA-8776 helmet is a helmet that complies with the requirements of the Dutch Technical Agreement (NTA) 8776. These requirements were drawn up by an international project group under the leadership of NEN. This helmet looks like a bicycle helmet, but it protects against higher impact speeds and covers more of the head. It combines a hard ABS shell and an EPS liner for optimal protection against impacts all around the head. As an option, we also added the MIPS system, which improves shock absorption during rotational collisions.
What is the Mips system ?
Mips is a safety system that improves helmet safety in many accidents. For certain impacts, the Mips system can reduce harmful rotational movements that could otherwise be transferred to the user's head. The Mips system consists of a low-friction layer mounted inside the helmet. In the event of an accident, the low-friction layer is designed to move slightly inside the helmet to redirect forces away from the head. This system is designed to reduce the risk of brain damage.
